University of Trier is a young and dinamic university with a clear focus on training young academics. Founded in 1473, the University of Trier was closed under the reign of Napoleon in the XVIII century and it was not reopened until 1970. All departments are active in research and benefit from strong international networks. The collaboration is particularly strong with university partners from France, Belgium and Luxembourg, with research focusing on European history and Europe today.

S. Thiele-Bruhn studied agricultural sciences; Ph.D. in Soil Science at University of Bonn, Germany. Postdoctoral positions at Pennsylvania State University, USA, and Soil Science Dept. of University of Rostock, Germany. Professor and head of the Soil Science Dept. at Trier University in 2006. Research focus: properties, fate and effects on biota of natural or anthropogenic organic compounds in soil.

Felix Dittrich

Felix (M.Sc.) studied agricultural and soil science in Hohenheim and Osnabrück, Germany. Agroecological farming practices and soil protection are his principal research interests and were also studied in foreign environments such as Israel, Portugal and Mongolia. Within Diverfarming, Felix works as a PhD and investigates the effects of intercropping grapevine with aromatic plants.
