El Carpio hosts the first seminar with the agricultural community of the South Mediterranean region of Diverfarming

Around 30 people attended the first of the annual seminars in El Carpio, Cordoba, that the Diverfarming team will hold to create the ‘Farmers Community’ which puts into practice the sustainable agricultural techniques posed by the European project.

The Cordoba team of Diverfarming, comprising Luis Parras, Beatriz Lozano and Manuel González were on hand to resolve doubts, gather experiences and exchange opinions. They reviewed the milestones of their case study: the diversified olive grove located in Torredelcampo (Jaén).

The management options regarding the crops that are sown in the olive grove’s alleys, which in this case are saffron, lavender and a mix of vetch and oats, together with the machinery possible to handle them were the main concerns of those attending.

The gathering ended with enriched knowledge for both the general public as well as the research group who knew the different techniques that the olive farmers of the zone employed. The Diverfarming farmers community was also strengthened, since several of those attending saw crop diversification as an option for the near future.
