Participatory Workshop with end userswas celebrated in the headquarters of ASAJA (AsociaciónAgraria de JóvenesAgricultores), Murcia (Spain). This workshop was organised by the Diverfarming project members involved in the case study 1 (rainfed almond trees) and 2 (irrigated citrus).The main objectives of the workshop were to present to farmers the outcomes of surveys on diversification and management practicesfor both case studies of the Region of Murcia and get feedback from them. In addition, there was a general introduction to the Diverfarming project and a presentation about our long-term case study related to diversification in almond trees by growth of vetch/oat/barley as fodder with reduced tillage (9 years of implementation, NW Murcia).

The Diverfarming project maps out the most economically, socially and environmentally efficient framing practices and begins an experimental phase to offer solutions to European farmers

The olive grove, the main protagonist of Andalusian landscapes will be more profitable and will suffer fewer problems of erosion if it shares its role with other crops. Intercropping oleaginouscrops for livestock, aromatic and medicinal plants or even aloe vera between the lines of the olive groves will increase its yield. The employment that this type of growing system will generate will be key to keeping the population in rural zones and the generational change, above all in zones of mountain or slope olive groves where abandoning the land is usually more prevalent.

Read more ...Within the activities organizated by each of the partners of Diverfarming with the aim of spreading the news from the project among end users, the University of Cordoba presents this workshop that will be held on March 6 in Jaén. This workshop will review the principles of Diverfarming and, after that, it will be focused on the case study that is being carried out in Andalusia (diversification of the olive grove).

Read more ...Between april 17 y 18 the South Mediterranean National Meeting of Diverfarming Project will be organized in Cordoba. At this meeting, scheduled in the project plan, partners will share the work carried out during the first year of Diverfarming and develop a short-term strategy for the next year.
